Summer Lewis was awarded the Rotary Peace Fellowship scholarship in November 2010. She presented a program to the Manhattan Konza Club in 2011.
Dear Rotary friends,
I hope things are going well for all of you in your neck of the woods.
Things are going well Down Under. I am completing my final semester as
a Rotary Peace Fellow at the University of Queensland and will
graduate in July. It's been an amazing experience!
I wanted to share the logbook I created during my Applied Field
Experience (AFE) in Vietnam with Roots of Peace (ROP) from November
2011 - February 2012. Roots of Peace is a humanitarian organization
promoting agricultural development in areas once occupied by
landmines. This AFE is a key part of the Rotary Peace Fellowship and
those of us Peace Fellows at the University of Queensland take part in
it between our second and third semester. The experience provided me
with in-depth, hands-on experience in the development field.
Additionally, I gained a special appreciation for Rotary since my
Country Director in Vietnam is a Rotarian. All in all, it was a truly
unique and valuable experience and I am very grateful to Rotary for
making it possible.
