Konza Rotary Holds Special Member Recognition

MANHATTAN KONZA ROTARY CLUB HOLDS SPECIAL MEMBER/CLUB RECOGNITION EVENT - AND A CELEBRATORY PARTY TO CAP OFF A GREAT YEAR!! The Manhattan Konza Rotary Club held its member recognition event on June 18th at City Hall and honored the following Konza Rotarians: ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR - Ron Fehr. Special guests for presentation of the Rotarian of the Year award were: Renee Fehr and children, Mayor Bruce Snead, Kent Glasscock, Chamber Executive Director and Manhattan Noon Club President Lyle Butler and numerous City staff. The Club's QUIET ROTARIAN AWARDS were bestowed upon Doug Kinney and Dan Knupp. A SERVICE ABOVE SELF AWARD was jointly presented by the two Manhattan Rotary Club Presidents to Dori Milldyke on behalf of the Manhattan Konza Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Manhattan for Dori's tremendous GSE Team coordinator efforts in this region. And last, but not least, a special recognition award for our NYC MARATHONER Hannah Merle, an art teacher at Wamego High School and Founder/Officer of Little Apple Road Runner Club who served our Club proudly as our representative runner in the NYC marathon on November 1st, 2009. The FIVE CLUB AWARDS recently presented to the Manhattan Konza Rotary Club by District leadership included: Club Achievement Award, Presidential Citation, District Literacy Award (48 Clubs in our District), Zone Literacy Award (encompasses 12 states) and Area Literacy Award (encompasses 8,000 Clubs in US, Canada, parts of Russia and Caribbean Islands). As of mid-June, our Konza Club also earned the Star Club Designation for the first time ever, which represents average Foundation giving of $100 per Club member. Members are to be commended for this tremendous show of generosity and commitment to Rotary efforts around the world. Thanks to each and every Konza Rotarian! Congratulations to ALL!!!!! Every Konza Rotarian is a true winner, living the 4-way Test! To cap off the year, all efforts were celebrated with a TWO-CLUB-PARTY at Kites East on June 29th, with 40+ members joining in the fun from both Manhattan Konza Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Manhattan. Our two Manhattan Clubs were so excited with a successful year of partnering between our Clubs during the 2009/2010 year, we decided to celebrate! Our partnered efforts included: each Club donated $700 for new ice skates for the City's new rink, our co-sponsored free skate day for 500+ kids/parents in January, our work together with mock interviews for Ambassadorial Scholar applicants, our work together on international student scholarships for KSU and MCC students, our work together on GSE team home hosting and vocational visits, Noon Club provided $1600 and Konza provided two members to work plus $2000 in equipment/supplies for the Panama project trip, our work together on RYLA and Rotoract. The power of Clubs working together like this is tremendous - and energizing to all of the members of both Clubs!
