Konza Rotary 2010 MATC Scholarship Awards

On Friday, December 10, Cheryl Philippi, Vocational Services Chair, presented two Manhattan Area Technical College students with $500 scholarships from the Manhattan Konza Rotary Club. The two MATC students honored were Tiffany Pauley and Danielle Bacon. Pauley graduated last Friday with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Aided Drafting. She plans to continue her education at Pittsburg State University in mechanical engineering. Bacon will graduate from MATC in May, 2011 from the school's Business Administration program. Justin Pfeifer, Konza Rotarian and Manhattan Area Technical College Vice President of Student Services explained the criteria for the girls receiving the scholarships, "The awards are given to the MATC 'Students of the Semester.' Faculty members are asked to nominate students that they believe have excelled in and out of the classroom. The nominations are then reviewed by a team of staff and the recipients are chosen based on their academic success, involvement in the college, and leadership qualities."
