How can local Rotary clubs impact peace? The Junction City Noon Rotary Club and the Manhattan Morning and Noon Rotary Clubs came together for dinner on Sept 15 at Rileys on Fort Riley to do just that. In honor of District Governor John Vanderwalle's visit, the clubs held a healthy competition to provide monetary donations for Help Us Learn...Give Us Hope. This Not-for-profit 501C3 provides backpacks, supplies and books to school children in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa. Since its founding in 2008, the organization has shipped more than 900,000 lbs of supplies and 950,000 books and provided for almost 500,000 children in these countries. President and Chairman of the Board, Colonel Gary LaGrange provided a compelling account of his work, its beginnings and his current and future needs. District Governor John Vanderwalle then said, "we can do more". Please consider taking up the challenge with us in helping Colonel LaGrange and his efforts in our own small way of impacting peace.
