Konza Rotary Hosts 10th Annual Water Matters Day
Water, sanitation and hygiene are one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus. To help educate the local community on water issues and raise funds to support worthwhile water-related projects, Konza Rotary initiated the club’s annual signature event, Water Matters Day, in 2011.

During the club’s event held on August 7, $12,500 was directed to local, regional and international organizations which promote responsible water usage and advocate for access to a clean water supply for communities lacking such resources. The 2021 recipients were Engineers Without Borders ($5,000), Shepherd’s Crossing ($4,000), Friends of the Kaw ($2,500), and Woodland Charities ($1,000).

Since the event’s inception, Konza Rotary has donated more than $105,000 to various water-related projects locally, within Kansas, and abroad. Water Matters Day funds have helped residents of small cities in Kansas rebuild their own water systems, supported sustainable projects to bring clean water to children and families, and helped, in some way, to alleviate the suffering that arises from a lack of clean, accessible water.
